Kaitlyn M. Sparkman has been a practicing Physical Therapist Assistant for 5 years in the greater Seattle area. She was raised in Southern California with her three brothers and competed in gymnastics from an early age. Her career in competitive gymnastics sparked an interest in learning how to take care of your body so it can perform at its maximum potential.
Expanding on this interest, Kaitlyn completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Sonoma State University (2012) while coaching at multiple gyms in the Sonoma County area. Following her undergraduate work, Kaitlyn moved to Kirkland, WA where she graduated with honors from the PTA program at Lake Washington Institute of Technology (2016) and later started her career as a PTA in Bellevue.
Kaitlyn is certified in Astym, a tool-assisted manual therapy shown to safely and effectively stimulate scar tissue to be resorbed by the body and regenerate damaged soft tissues. By following specific treatment parameters, Astym can be effective for tendinopathies, post-traumatic/post-surgical scarring, and other soft tissue dysfunctions when used in conjunction with physical therapy.
In addition to Astym, she has completed continuing education by Kathe Wallace for connecting the pelvic floor with orthopedic conditions. Kaitlyn thoughtfully approaches patient care from a holistic perspective, taking into account all aspects of a patient’s well-being. She highly values patient education and truly wants to see her patients thrive.
When not in the clinic, Kaitlyn enjoys tending to her houseplants, hiking, running and exploring the PNW with her husband, Gerrit, and her dog, Jack.
